لازال اتباع سيدنا ابراهيم عليه السلام عنادهم وتكبرهم من اتباع الحق، ولما
وجدوا منه استمساكًا برأيه وإصرارًا على دعوته إياهم إلى عبادة الله وحده
وترك عبادة الأصنام خاف المستكبرون من قومه أن يكثر أتباعه وأن ينصرفوا
عنهم إليه، وفي ذلك ذهاب لسلطانهم وتفتيت لقوتهم، فأرادوا أن يظهروا للناس
أنه عاجز غير صادق في دعواه وهذا من خبث نفوسهم وظلام قلوبهم عن اتباع
الحق،
ومن كثرة عنادهم وكفرهم طلبوا منه معجزة تكون دليلاً على صدقه وقالوا له: أخرِجْ لنا من هذه
الصخرة (وأشاروا إلى صخرة كانت هناك) ناقةً ومعها ولدها وصفتها كذا وكذا وذكروا لها أوصافًا،ولقد قامو يذلك ليعجزوه عليه والسلام وقالوا له: إن أخرجت لنا من هذه الصخرة ناقةً ومعها
ابنها ءامنّا بك وصدقناك، فأخذ سيدنا صالح عليه السلام عليهم عهودهم
ومواثيقهم على ذلك، وقام وصلى للهِ تبارك وتعالى ثم دعا ربَّه عز وجلّ أن
يُعينه ويجيبه إلى ما طلب قومه فاستجاب الله دعوتَه فأخرج لهم سيدنا صالح
عليه السلام بقدرة الله ناقةً ومعها ولدها من الصخرة الصماء.
فقد أمر الله هذه الصخرةَ أن تَنفطر عن ناقة عظيمة طويلة فيها الصفات التي طلبوها ومعها ابنها، فلما رأى قومُه هذا الأمر الخارق للعادة الذي فيه الدليل القاطع والبرهانُ الساطع على صدق سيدنا صالح عليه السلام ءامن قسم منهم ومنهم جندع بن عمرو وكان من رؤسائهم ومعه رَهط من قومه، واستمر أكثرهم على كفرهم وعنادهم وضلالهم،رغم المعجزة التي قام بها بأمر من الله وقد صدهم عن الإيمان رأس الكفر دؤاب بن عمرو بن لبيد والحباب صاحب أوثانهم وغيرهما.
وعندما أخرج لهم سيدنا صالح عليه السلام هذه الناقة مع فصيلها بقدرة الله تعالى قال لهم ما أخبرنا الله تعالى :{هذه ناقة الله لكم} (سورة الأعراف/73) أضافها عليه السلام لله تعالى إضافة تشريف وتعظيم وأخبرهم أنها لهم دليل صدق على دعوته عليه السلام، وأمرهم أن يتركوها تأكل في أرض الله قال تعالى :{قال هذه ناقة لها شِرب ولكم شِربُ يومٍ معلوم} (سورة الشعراء/155)،وحذرهم أن يتعرضوا لها بالقتل أو الأذى، وأخبرهم أنهم إن هم تعرضوا لها بالسوء يأخذهم عذاب وهلاك عظيم، قال الله تبارك وتعالى في كتابه العزيز :{قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ (153) مَا أَنتَ إِلاَّ بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِآيَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ (154) قَالَ هَذِهِ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ (155) وَلا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ (156)} (سورة الشعراء).
وقال تعالى في ءاية أخرى حكاية عن نبيه عليه السلام لقومه :{وَإِلَى ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُواْ اللهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَهٍ غَيْرُهُ قَدْ جَاءتْكُم بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ هَذِهِ نَاقَةُ اللهِ لَكُمْ ءايَةً فَذَرُوهَا تَأْكُلْ فِي أَرْضِ اللهِ وَلاَ تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوَءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ (73)} (سورة الأعراف).
فإتفقواعلى أن تبقى هذه الناقة بين أظهرهم ترعى حيث شاءت من أرضهم، فترِدُ الماء يومًا بعد يوم، ويقال إنها كانت إذا وردت الماء تشرب ماء البئر يومها بالكامل ذلك فكانوايخزنون الماء لغدهم، قال الله تعالى :{قال هذه ناقة لها شِرب ولكم شِربُ يومٍ معلوم}.
مآمرة قوم صالح على قتل الناقه
عاشت ناقةُ صالح عليه الصلاة والسلام في قبيلة ثمود زمانًا تأكل من الأرض، وترِدُ الماء للشرب يومًا وتمتنعُ منه يومًا، ممّا استمال كثيرًا من قومه عليه السلام إذ استبانوا بها على صدق رسالة نبيّهم صالح عليه السلام وأيقنوا بذلك، مما أفزع ذلك رؤوس الكفر من قومه وخافُوا على سلطانهم أن يزول وقالوا للمستضعفين الذين أشرق نور الإيمان في قلوبهم ما أخبرنا الله تعالى في كتابه :{قَالَ الْمَلأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُواْ مِن قَوْمِهِ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُواْ لِمَنْ ءامَنَ مِنْهُمْ أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ صَالِحًا مُّرْسَلٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِ (75)} (سورة الأعراف)، فأجابوهم {قَالُواْ إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلَ بِهِ مُؤْمِنُونَ (75)} (سورة الأعراف)، ولكن جواب المؤمنين من أتباع صالح عليه السلام لم يؤثر في المشركين المستكبرين وظلت قلوبهم قاسية كالأحجار قال الله تعالى :{قَالَ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُواْ إِنَّا بِالَّذِيَ ءامَنتُمْ بِهِ كَافِرُونَ (76)} (سورة الأعراف). ورأى المُستكبرون من قوم نبي الله صالح عليه السلام في هذه الناقة خطَرًا جسيمًا عليهم فاتفقوا على أن يعقروها ليستريحوا منها، قال الله تعالى :{إِنَّا مُرْسِلُواْ النَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَارْتَقِبْهُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ (27) وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ الْمَاء قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ} (سورة القمر).
وقيل إنهم ظلوا يتهربون من الأتفاق الذيكان بينهم إلى أن قامت فيهما امرأتان خبيثتان إحداهما اسمها صدوق ابنة المحيا وكانت ذات حسب ومال فعرضت نفسها على رجل يقال له مَصرع بن مهرج إن هو ذبح الناقة وذبحها، وكان اسم الأخرى عنيزة بنت غنيم وكانت عجوزًا كافرةً لها أربع بنات فعرضت على رجل كافر خبيث أيضًا اسمه قُدار بن سالف أيّ بناتها يختار إن هو عقر الناقة، فقبل هذانِ الشابان وسَعيا في قومهم لأجل هذا الغرض الخبيث فاستجاب لهم سبعة ءاخرون فصاروا تسعة كما أخبر الله تبارك وتعالى بقوله :{وَكَانَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ يُفْسِدُونَ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلا يُصْلِحُونَ (48)} (سورة النمل) فانطلق هؤلاء الرجال الخُبثاء يرصدون الناقة، فلما صدرت من وِردها رماها أحدهم وهو مصرع بسهم، وجاء النساء يشجعن في قتلها فأسرع أشقاهم وهو قدار بن سالف فشَدَّ عليها بسيفه وكشفَ عن عُرقوبها فخرت ساقطة إلى الأرض مَيتة بعد أن طعنها في لَبَّتِها فنحرها، وأما فصيلها فصعد جبلاً مَنيعًا ثم دخل في صخرة وغاب فيها، روى البخاريّ ومسلم وأحمد بإسنادهم عن عبد الله بن زمعة أنه سمع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يخطب وذكر الناقة والذي عقر فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم :{إذ انبعث أشقاها} انبعث لها رجل عزيز عارم منيع في رهطه مثل أبي زمعة" وقوله "عزيز" أي قليل المثل، وعارم أي كثير الشراسة والشرّ، ومنيع أي ذو مَنَعة، وقال الله تبارك وتعالى :{فَعَقَرُواْ النَّاقَةَ وَعَتَوْاْ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ وَقَالُواْ يَا صَالِحُ ائْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ (77)} (سورة الأعراف)، وهذا مبلغ العناد والزيغ فلقد رأى قوم صالح عليه السلام هذه المعجزة العظيمة لنبي الله صالح عليه السلام، وهذا البرهان الصادق والدليل القاطع على نبوته وصدقه أمام أعينهم، ولكن حمَلَهم الكفرُ والضلال والعناد وحب الدنيا على رفض الحق واعتناق الباطل، وكان عاقبة هذا العناد والتكبر عن الحق وخيمة عليهم.
يقول الله تبارك وتعالى :{كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَاهَا (11) إِذِ انبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا (12) فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ نَاقَةَ اللهِ وَسُقْيَاهَا (13)} (سورة الشمس) أي احذروها ولا تتعرضوا لها ولسقياها {فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنبِهِمْ فَسَوَّاهَا (14) وَلا يَخَافُ عُقْبَاهَا (15)} (سورة الشمس)، وقال تعالى {فَعَقَرُوهَا فَقَالَ تَمَتَّعُواْ فِي دَارِكُمْ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ذَلِكَ وَعْدٌ غَيْرُ مَكْذُوبٍ (65)} (سورة هود).

He says in a Sign another story about Prophet peace be upon him to his people: {And to Thamud their brother Salih said, O my people, worship Allah what you no other god may جاءتكم aware of the Lord, this camel God you a Sign فذروها eat in the land of God nor تمسوها bad lest painful torment (73 )} (Surat norms).
